Hemingways, Nairobi
Hemingways is a colonial-style boutique hotel in the Kenyan capital Nairobi. The hotel is named after the famous writer who explored east Africa in the 1930s. It's set in the leafy and secluded suburbs of Karen looking out over the Ngong Hills, with elegant grounds making for a luxurious stopover between dusty safaris.
There are just 45 rooms at the Hemingways, each named after famous people and places, in six categories: leaders, safaris, Hollywood, explorers, Kenya and writers. Apart from the two enormous presidential suites, all the rooms are of the same size and design, fronted by a balcony looking onto the gardens and the Ngong Hills.
With a Hollywood themed décor and serving breakfast, lunch and dinner, the Brasserie offers a wide choice of international dishes with modern European and South Asian flavours. Enjoy a fresh drink at Hemingways Bar or try Old and New World wines in the wine cellar of the hotel.
Hemingways boasts a large outdoor pool with sun loungers, a spa, steam room and sauna, and a small gym. The hotel offers a half-day city tour of local attractions, such as Karen Blixen Museum, Giraffe Centre, David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust elephant orphanage and Nairobi National Park
